Passenger and freight diesel locomotives from Transmashholding arrived at the Ashgabat depot

Demiryollary OJSC, the railway transport operator in Turkmenistan, purchased a passenger diesel locomotive and a mainline freight diesel locomotive from Transmashholding JSC (TMH). This was announced on September 29 by the press service of the company.

Diesel locomotives were sent to the locomotive depot in Ashgabat. The delivery was carried out in accordance with contracts concluded in October and November 2020. This is the first delivery of a TMH diesel locomotive to Turkmenistan.

The TEP70BS passenger diesel locomotives are designed to drive passenger trains on mainline railways. Freight 2TE25KM is a mainline freight two-section diesel locomotive with AC-DC electric transmission.

In May 2020, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was informed that Turkmenistan would purchase two units of freight and passenger diesel locomotives from Transmashholding. The head of state instructed that the railway equipment should correspond to the weather and climatic conditions of Turkmenistan.
