Lankaran: The brother of Mahmud Ibayev, a fisherman who went missing in Lankaran, is currently in Iran to facilitate the return of his brother's body to Azerbaijan. This development comes after Mahmud Ibayev's body was discovered by fishermen in Iran and subsequently circulated on social media.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Rashad Ibayev, the brother of the deceased and a resident of Siyavar village in the Lankaran region, identified Mahmud's body through photographs shared online. With the assistance of relevant agencies, Rashad is now in Iran, where he met Said Hadiani, the individual who found Mahmud's body.
Said Hadiani detailed the discovery, stating that he found the body in Bandar-Anzali, near the Kapurchay River. He mentioned that the body was submerged 25 meters deep, with the head in the water and the face blackened, though the body remained intact. The body was retrieved and brought to shore in a boat, after which the police were informed. Hadiani added that the area is regularly monitored by boats.
The body is scheduled to be transferred to Azerbaijan tomorrow.
