On January 18, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhmedov came to inspect the construction site of the new capital of Akhal velayat. Earlier, the head of state announced that the city would be opened this year.
As the state information agency TDH notes , the location of the new city, the construction of which began in 2019, "in all respects, fully complies with the requirements of the urban development program."
Berdimuhamedov approved building cladding materials and curbs, designs for benches, trash cans, lighting poles, stadium seating, the 40-meter Akhal monument, elevated road crossings (equipped with escalators but not elevators), bus stops, and indoor and outdoor the design of various buildings under construction here and the names of hotels.
After that, the head of state held a meeting with the participation of vice-premiers involved in the construction of the city and heads of construction companies performing contracts here.
The President noted that the construction of a new velayat center was planned in two stages. On the first one, 336 facilities will be built here, including 11 public and 26 administrative buildings, 19 educational institutions, 258 two- and multi-storey residential buildings, 8 medical and sports facilities, 14 internal and external engineering systems and structures.
According to Berdimuhamedov, the state has created all conditions for the construction of a new city. Contractors and subcontractors were exempted from paying customs duties, exchange and customs fees. They were also provided with loans with a grace period to finance the necessary part of the amount of contracts for the construction of residential buildings.
According to TDH, the area on which the new capital of the Akhal velayat is being built, including the ecological state, seismic resistance and other relevant indicators, have been studied in detail by scientists.
The head of the Türkmenaragatnasyk (Turkmensvyaz) agency, Khadzhimyrat Hudaygulyev, spoke about “the establishment of a program in the new administrative center based on modern types of Internet and communication systems.”
Probably, we are talking about connecting local residents to the Internet using ethernet technology. At the moment, residents of Ashgabat can only connect using the outdated ADSL standard, with the exception of residents of a few "elite" new buildings, to which ethernet is connected. The connection speed and cost remains the same as for ADSL.
During the meeting, the President ordered those present to ensure a high standard of living in the new city, as well as complete all construction work on time. The head of state instructed to attract students from the country's universities for construction work.
