During the video conference with Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev, Deputy Prime Minister overseeing the agroindustrial sector and heads of provinces, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, who was discontent with the results of reforms in the agro-industrial sector, dismissed 8 khyakims (heads of the districts) and 5 deputy khyakims of etraps for job-related shortcomings. This was followed by some reshuffles and several khyakims were re-appointed to head other districts.
Berdymukhammedov also reprimanded his son Serdar, who heads Akhal velayat (province) since some etraps of the velayat failed to execute the objectives set to implement the National agricultural program.

In July 2019 the region exceeded the wheat harvest plan, in November 2019 Akhal velayat was the first to fulfill the cotton harvest plan and in December 2019 Serdar Berdymukhamedov introduced the digital management system in Akhal velayat, in the agricultural sector inter alia.
