President Berdymukhammedov orders attracting more investment in Turkmenistan’s oil and gas sector

On 29 May President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov held a meeting with executives of the oil and gas industry, entitled Program for the development of Turkmenistan's oil and gas sector for the period up to 2030.

Based on the results of the last six months, measures need to be taken to increase not only oil production but also production volumes of oil products and liquefied petroleum gas, � the state information agency TDH quoted the President.

The President instructed that increased attention be paid to attracting investment into this area. In particular, Berdymukhammedov ordered expediting work to attract foreign investment to equip the gas field Galkynysh, where the TAPI starts, and to speed up construction of the pipeline.

Let us recall that at the Gas Congress held on 23 May Mukhammetmyrat Amanov, chief executive of TAPI pipeline Company Ltd, said that Turkmenistan plans to secure all necessary funding to complete the construction of the natural gas pipeline.

In the course of the meeting the President of Turkmenistan instructed that changes to the managerial system in the oil and gas sector be introduced to update to current international standards.
