Entire life of Turkmen people is full of love to the nature what was reflected in national culture and customs. The traditions of careful treatment to the nature and necessity for its protection are multiplied by modern technologies, which allow orienting them at search for efficient solutions of global ecological problems, – the message says.
Priorities of natural protection policy implemented by our country are the support of healthy, clean environment, protection of uniqueness of nature for future generations, rational use of bio resources and effective regional and international cooperation. Following this, Turkmenistan carries out number of measures for enrichment of flora and fauna, careful treatment of the environment and improvement of ecological condition of the region.
Creation of forest zones around Ashgabat and in the velayats of the country, formation of Avaza National tourist zone on Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea, construction of Altyn Asyr Turkmen Lake in the Central Karakums and prevention of soil degradation and desertification are very important not only for our state but for the whole region.
At present time, long-term target programmes for natural protection and provision of ecological safety are implemented in the country. In this relation, our country, having joined number of the UN Conventions of environmental protection, targets for solution of fundamental goals of sustainable development. Turkmenistan closely cooperates with such competent regional and international organizations as the UN Development Programme, UN Environmental Programme, Global Ecological Fund, International Fund for Saving of the Aral Sea and Central Asian Regional Ecological Centre, – the message mentions.
Turkmenistan proposed number of important initiatives at the sessions of the UN General Assembly, International Conference on Sustainable Development Rio+20, 3rd World Conference on Reducing the Risks of Natural Cataclysms, 7th World Water Forum and other international forums aimed at integrated solution of the Aral Sea problem, protection of the Caspian Sea environment, adaptation of the region to the global climate change and reducing its negative impacts, protection of biological diversity and combating desertification.
Adoption of new international Treaty on climate change by the UN and number of agreements by the Heads of Caspian States, organization of international conference Role of Altyn Asyr Turkmen Lake in improvement of the Regional Ecology, Caspian Ecological Forum, international conference The Ecology of the Aral Sea: Stable Development and International Cooperation, regional session Economical Evaluation of Lands Degradation, International Water Forum as well as current Central Asian international Ecological Forum in Ashgabat indicate the support of proposals and initiatives of Turkmenistan, – the message of the President highlights.
