President Ilham Aliyev and Belgian PM Discuss Climate and Bilateral Relations in Azerbaijan.

BAKU: President Ilham Aliyev met with Prime Minister Alexander De Croo of Belgium to discuss significant climate and bilateral issues. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting on November 11 saw Prime Minister De Croo congratulating Azerbaijan on hosting COP29, highlighting its importance in tackling climate change and Azerbaijan's critical role as an energy-rich nation in this context. Prime Minister De Croo acknowledged the visit as an opportunity to strengthen Azerbaijan-European Union relations, emphasizing the existing strong ties and expressing support for further development. President Aliyev echoed these sentiments, praising the successful cooperation with the EU and discussing Azerbaijan's green energy initiatives, particularly the potential of wind energy along the Caspian Sea's coasts and ongoing projects to export this green energy to Europe. President Aliyev also spoke of Azerbaijan's efforts to ensure the high-level organization of COP29 despite limited preparation time and noted Az erbaijan's vulnerability to climate change. The meeting included discussions on regional issues and the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with President Aliyev mentioning progress in border delimitation talks but highlighting Armenia's constitutional territorial claims as an obstacle to peace. Furthermore, the sides explored cooperation in port development and renewable energy at sea, with a focus on opportunities for Belgian companies. President Aliyev also mentioned Azerbaijan's invitation to Armenia for COP29, leaving participation to Armenia's discretion.
