President Sadyr Zhaparov met with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the Ala-Archa state residence. During the negotiations in an expanded format, the president noted that the visit of the emir is of great historical importance, since it is the first visit to have the status of a state visit in 30 years of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Arab countries. 'Undoubtedly, your visit is based on mutual trust, and I am sure that it will open a new page in Kyrgyz-Qatari fraternal relations. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our states. It is gratifying that we are solemnly celebrating this event with respected friends from the Qatari side,' Zhaparov said. He also noted the intention of Kyrgyzstan to maintain close cooperation within the framework of bilateral cooperation and partnership within international organizations. The Emir of Qatar, in turn, stressed that the previous working visits of the leaders and meetings on the sidelines of international organizations gave a good impetus to the promotion of bilateral cooperation. He also emphasized that the Qatari side is ready to consider the proposal of Kyrgyzstan to take part in the implementation of the country's strategic projects as investors. At the same time, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani thanked Sadyr Zhaparov for the warm welcome, highlighting the trusting and friendly spirit of the talks. Further signing of a number of bilateral documents is expected. The state visit of the Emir of Qatar is taking place in Bishkek from 6 to 7 June.
