President of Pakistan discussed with Meredov the early completion of the TAPI project

On December 20, talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the President of Pakistan Arif Alvi were held in Islamabad , reports the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.

The parties discussed the revitalization joint actions on the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and power transmission lines and fiber-optic communications along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route.

The Pakistan Observer writes that Arif Alvi told Meredov that Pakistan is interested in an early completion of the TAPI construction.

At the meeting, it was proposed to create a committee within the framework of the Joint Working Group to accelerate the process of early completion of the construction of the TAPI pipeline.

The President recalled his recent visit to Turkmenistan ( took place on November 28, during which Arif Alvi took part in the ECO meeting , - ed. ), which he held a fruitful meeting with the President of Turkmenistan, at which both sides stressed the need for an early completion of the TAPI project.

The situation in Afghanistan was also discussed at the meeting. As the newspaper writes, the President of Pakistan expressed the hope that at the extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation it will be possible to enlist international support to resolve the growing crisis in Afghanistan.

The President called on the international community to realize the gravity of the situation in Afghanistan and to support the country. Alvi said Afghanistan should not be subject to further pressure, and the blocked money should be freed up to counter the deepening economic and humanitarian crisis.

A day earlier, Rashid Meredov took part in the 3rd meeting of the Central Asia - India Dialogue, which was held in the Indian capital of New Delhi, and held talks with his Indian counterpart Subrahmaniyam Jaishankar , at which the implementation of the TAPI project was also discussed.

At the end of November, Pakistan's Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan announced at the Russian-Pakistani intergovernmental commission that the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project had been suspended due to the unstable situation in Afghanistan.
