President of Turkmenistan and President of the Turkish Republic have a telephone conversation

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had a telephone conversation.

Cordially greeting each other, the leaders of the two countries exchanged congratulations on the occasion of Oraza Bayramy, wishing prosperity and wellbeing to the peoples of Turkmenistan and Turkey.

The leaders of the two states expressed belief that this bright holiday, embodying the universal moral values and spiritual growth, contributed to the development of friendly relations between the two countries, strengthening peace, solidarity of the Muslim ummah and all peoples.

The leaders of the two states expressed satisfaction with the high level of the interstate dialogue, which is based on the common historical roots and traditions of partnership, and discussed its most important directions and prospects. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction that the long-term, strategic, fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey had acquired new content, which is facilitated by the implementation of joint projects, and thanked Turkish companies for their participation in the development of the white-marble capital – Ashgabat, their contribution to the urban development of Turkmenistan.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan confirmed that Turkmenistan and Turkey attached great importance to both bilateral cooperation in trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as cooperation within international organizations.

The leaders of Turkmenistan and Turkey exchanged views on regional and global issues, focusing on the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), which had posed a new challenge to humanity. The leaders of the two states called for the consolidation of the efforts of all countries to achieve the victory over the pandemic.

The Turkmen leader reaffirmed the commitment of our independent neutral state to a universal struggle, emphasizing the paramount importance of active international cooperation, primarily in the field of medicine, in order to effectively counter this threat.

Turkmenistan is ready to cooperate across the entire spectrum of initiatives put forward by our country during the Online Summit-level Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked Turkish partners for organization of online international conferences, video forums and online meetings, which allows promoting scientific diplomacy as one of the ways to unite all countries in countering the pandemic that was proposed by Turkmenistan. The President of Turkmenistan focused on the positive experience of Turkey in improving the methods of diagnosis and treatment of coronavirus infection, congratulating his colleague on the successes achieved in this area.

President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on the holiday – the Ashgabat Day. During the conversation, the parties noted that, despite the current objective difficulties, our countries had continued cooperation in the sphere of transport, in particular, along the Lazurite transit route and agreed to provide instructions to the ministries of foreign affairs of the two countries on further development of relations, strengthening the trade and economic component.

In conclusion, the heads of the two states expressed confidence that the Turkmen-Turkish dialogue would develop on the basis of trust, openness and mutual understanding and wished each other good health and great success in state activity, as well as peace and prosperity to the peoples of the two countries.
