Turkmen-Italian top level talks began with a meeting in a one-on-one format. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte reaffirmed the interest of their countries in enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The current meeting provides an opportunity to exchange views on the key issues of partnership in various areas. The Prime Minister of Italy expressed confidence that the talks in Rome would contribute to enhancing bilateral cooperation and specifying its priorities.
Expressing sincere gratitude for the cordial welcome, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that in its foreign policy, Turkmenistan paid special attention to developing cooperation with the countries of the European Union, and in particular, with the Republic of Italy.
The President of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of Italy expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of the Turkmen-Italian dialogue, the identity of positions on the important issues of the global agenda.
Positive indicators characterize bilateral trade and economic ties. The President of Turkmenistan emphasized that our country successfully implemented a number of projects in the fuel and energy sector with the participation of Italian companies, underlining the importance to use the potential for cooperation in such important issues as energy security, the creation of alternative transit corridors and transport routes on the Eurasian continent.
Speaking about the importance of cooperation in the humanitarian area and the sphere of culture, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also emphasized the contribution of Italian scientists and archaeologists, who for many years have been conducting archaeological excavations in our country, exploring historical places and centers of development of world civilizations.
Expressing belief that the Italian partners are interested in the further development of interstate relations, the Turkmen leader wished good health and success in his work to Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
The parties discussed the issues of the Turkmen-Italian cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, specifying its priority areas. Along with this, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte called for developing relations in the spheres of education, science and culture.
The parties exchanged views on a number of important issues of the regional and international agenda.
