“I congratulate on the World Environment Day! Nature is the source of life, and the ancestors learned to live in harmony with it. Over the centuries, the similar attitude to nature has gained a foothold in the traditions and customs of our people. Today, this heritage, in combination with the measures taken to address the global problems has been filled with new content”, says President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in his congratulatory address.
“The key goal of the state environmental policy is to ensure a favorable environment for life of our citizens, to carefully use natural resources, enrich and preserve nature for future generations, and establish fruitful regional and international cooperation in this area.
“Each state programme is aimed at further improving the social conditions of the Turkmen people, ensuring the dynamic development of all sectors of the economy, and creating environmentally friendly industries.
“Currently, the government carries out systematic work to ensure environmental well-being, and to comprehensively address the tasks identified in the National Strategy of Turkmenistan on Climate Change and the National Forest Programme. Effective work continues to improve the legislative framework in the field of environmental protection.

In this context, we cooperate with the UN Development Programme and the Environment Programme, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, the Global Environment Fund, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia, the Society for International Cooperation of Germany and many other international and regional structures, and initiate new proposals to ensure environmental welfare.
