Development of physical culture and sports is a priority area of the state policy, aimed at strengthening health and bringing up physically and spiritually strong younger generation, said the President of Turkmenistan in his address. Construction of the unique complex that has no analogues in Central Asia - Ashgabat Olympic Village is under completion. Innovative technologies, advanced technological developments and the best world practices have been widely used while building the Olympic Village facilities. All works done in this sphere contribute to improving the sphere of sports, developing physical culture, bringing up comprehensively developed youth and training high-class sportsmen and national teams to represent our country at international competitions.
Within the framework of the preparations for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in Ashgabat in 2017, as well as in accordance with the Olympic Council of Asia, the Asia Jiu-Jitsu Championship was held in the Turkmen capital on December 7-12, 2016. Turkmen athletes won 33 medals, including six gold medals, nine silver medals and 18 bronze medals. The victory at the competitions of this level testifies to the great attention the government pays to developing sports and physical culture in our country.
I believe that next year, you will successfully perform at the Jiu-Jitsu events, which are included into the programme of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, and will raise the sports honour of the country!
