President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov holds meeting with President of International Road Transport Union (IRU) Umberto de Pretto

The Head of large international organization expressed sincere gratitude to Turkmen Leader for the opportunity to discuss in private the perspectives and key directions of mutually beneficial cooperation, which broad field for steadfast development is represented by initiatives of Turkmen Side and important international forums on topical subjects of today, one of which is global partnership in transport sphere. Noting the currency of current conference in Ashgabat initiated by Turkmen side, where representatives of number of international organizations and countries of the world take part, the guest expressed the confidence that largest forum held under the UN aegis would become important step in promoting of constructive dialog in this strategy directions.

Having warmly greeted high-ranking representative of the world transport structure and thanked for active participation in preparation to this global forum, which is close by its theme to the targets of this organization, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted keen interest of Turkmenistan in intensification of successful cooperation with IRU for formation of new transport corridors in the central Asian and Caspian regions established for these years. Having noted that as for today, transit and transport sphere is one of strategic segments of the world economy and integral factor of global sustainable development, the Head of the State emphasized the necessity of activation of international partnership in this sphere.

Interested share of opinions on opportunities of joint realization of international projects, aimed at formation of modern transport and communication infrastructure of regional and transcontinental importance, was held during the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, Leader of the nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and president of International Road Transport Union (IRU) Umberto de Pretto exchanged good wishes, having expressed firm confidence that current representative forum would serve to achievement of the goals of sustainable development, one of which is establishment of favourable environment for sustainable development of the states and peoples of the region and the planet.
