Today, a telephone conversation took place between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
Having heartily congratulated his Turkmen colleague on his 60th birthday and wished him good health and new outstanding successes in his noble activities, President Vladimir Putin announced that he signed a decree on awarding the Turkmen leader with the high state award of the Russian Federation - the Order of Alexander Nevsky for his great personal contribution to Strengthening of relations of strategic partnership between two states.
Expressing sincere gratitude for the congratulations and the honor, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that he regards this honorable award as highly appreciated by the peaceful and constructive policy pursued by neutral Turkmenistan, and also as evidence of the steadily developing fruitful Turkmen-Russian cooperation.
During the conversation, the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Russia discussed the priority issues of bilateral cooperation in political, trade, economic, humanitarian and cultural spheres.
The parties also exchanged views on the relevant aspects of the regional and global agenda, confirming the readiness of both countries to strengthen effective contacts within authoritative international organizations and structures.
Taking this opportunity, the Turkmen leader invited his Russian counterpart to take part in the opening ceremony of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in Ashgabat on September 17-27, expressing confidence that the visit of the Russian leader will give a new impetus to the traditional interstate dialogue.
