The next, VI congress of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli was held in Ashgabat, in which President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov participated.
On the agenda of the congress, which brought together representatives of youth organizations from all regions of the country, a progress report and discussion of the priority tasks facing youth, as well as a number of organizational issues, were submitted. The report presented data on the activities of the organization in various directions for 2016-2019. The youth organization of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli, created in November 1991, currently unites 909 thousand 765 members in 4 thousand 973 primary organizations.
During the meeting of the VI Congress, its participants elected a new membership of the Central Council of the Makhtumkuli Youth Organization, its leaders. The chairman of the Central Council of the organization was elected J. Ovezberdiev.
The President congratulated the audience on the beginning of the VI Congress of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli and wished success to the newly elected new composition of the Central Council of this organization.
In his speech, the head of state praised the youth's activities and their contribution to the country's achievements.
At the end of the congress, delegates unanimously adopted a resolution on the urgent tasks set by the head of state to the youth organization at a new stage
