President of Turkmenistan signs decree to pardon convicted persons on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the country’s independence

Guided by the principles of mercy and humanism, as well as on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the independence of Turkmenistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree to pardon convicted persons.

The document exempts 868 convicted citizens of the country from further serving the main punishment in the form of imprisonment, as well as from the additional punishment in the form of imposing the obligation to live in a particular area. By signing the decree, the head of state instructed the heads of local administrations to provide pardoned citizens with assistance in finding employment.
