Today early in the morning, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov opened the new monument “Bicycle”, erected in the south of the Turkmen capital, at the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains.
Thus, the President of Turkmenistan launched a series of sports events dedicated to the World Bicycle Day, established in 2018 in accordance with the Resolution of the UN General Assembly on the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan.
High-ranking officials, deputies of the national parliament, heads of diplomatic missions, accredited in Turkmenistan, heads and specialists of ministries and departments of the country, various institutions and the media, rectors and students, numerous residents of the Turkmen capital attended the celebrations.
In his congratulatory address to those present, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined that this international holiday was widely and solemnly celebrated in our country.
The President of Turkmenistan emphasized that independent Turkmenistan had paid significant attention to bring physical culture and sports in the country up to the world level in order to educate our youth physically and spiritually strong.
The President of Turkmenistan also noted that in 2021, the Ashgabat Olympic Village would host the Track Cycling World Championship.
The participants in the celebrations together with the President of Turkmenistan took part in the bike ride.

A 12-kilometer bike ride ended in the center of the Turkmen capital at the State Tribune.
