India will celebrate Republic Day on January 26th. On December 2, the state news agency TDH published a letter in which Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to visit India as a guest of honor at a celebration in New Delhi.
“It will also be an honor for us to receive a contingent of your Armed Forces to participate in the parade in honor of the Republic Day,” the message says. Also, taking advantage of the presence of Central Asian leaders at the celebration of the Republic Day, a High-Level India-Central Asia Summit “to discuss collective approaches to common challenges in the region” will be organized.
On January 24, the Indian publication Deccan Herald reported that the leaders of all Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan ) will not be able to attend the celebrations, and the summit will take place virtually on the 27th. The official reason is the coronavirus pandemic.
Whether the Turkmen military will take part in the festive parade, the publication does not specify.
