Presidents of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan exchange opinions on diversification of cooperation

President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has met with President of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russian Federation) Rustam Minnikhanov.

Warmly welcoming the head of Turkmenistan, the guest offered his good wishes to President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov for his 60th birthday. Rustam Minnikhanov has highlighted that the well-established cooperation is of great importance to Tatarstan, where the Turkmen leader's peace policy is highly appreciated and fully supported.

Appreciative of the warm words, the President of Turkmenistan recognized the fruitful character of bilateral cooperation, based on the long-standing ties, cultural and spiritual affinity of the two peoples, and continues to develop successfully within interstate dialogue with the Russian Federation.

Having stressed that he is delighted to have the opportunity to visit Ashgabat again, President Rustam Minnikhanov highlighted that Tatarstan regards Turkmenistan as a reliable and promising partner. The bilateral cooperation has already resulted in a number of successfully implemented projects in various areas, the head of state Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov noted with satisfaction.

During the meeting, the parties held an exchange of opinions on new possibilities for diversification of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan (Russian Federation). The fuel-energy and trade-economic sectors, agriculture, and tourism were identified as the priority areas of cooperation. The issues of expanding exports of Turkmenistan-made products to the city of Kazan, as well as machinery and equipment manufactured in the Republic of Tatarstan � to our country received special attention.

The discussion also focused on interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. The parties put forward a proposal for wider cooperation between research and educational centers. Sport was named as a currently central area of bilateral relations in the context of preparations for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
