Prime Minister: Opening of Zangazur corridor will increase Azerbaijan’s reputation in the region

Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, founded by Heydar Aliyev in 2002, and put into operation in 2006, thanks to the priceless services of President Ilham Aliyev, formed the basis of the East-West energy-transport corridor, said Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov at the conference “Heydar Aliyev and independent state building: history and modernity of socio-economic transition”, APA reports/

According to him, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline has been further expanded and led to the establishment transnational arteries such as South Caucasus Pipeline, TANAP and TAP for gas transportation through the gigantic Shah Deniz project.

“It is not only access of Azerbaijani oil to the European and global markets but also Azerbaijan’s access to the political scene of the world. Alongside large-scale oil and gas projects, by the establishment of magnificent projects such as Nortehrn-Southern, and Eastern-Western transport corridors, as well as the commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, Azerbaijan has turned into one of the logistics and transport centers in the world.

In this context, the opening of Zangazur corridor will not only develop the country’s economy but also will increase Azerbaijan’s reputation in the region.”
