Prospects for cooperation in the fuel and energy sector with “Total” company discussed

Prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas industry were discussed during online talks held on Wednesday between representatives of Turkmenistan and the French company “Total”.

The Turkmen delegation was represented by adviser to the President of Turkmenistan on oil and gas issues Yagshigeldy Kakayev, heads of the state concerns “Turkmengas” and “Turkmennebit”, the state Corporation “Turkmengeologiya”, representatives of the Ministry of foreign Affairs and other departments of our country.

On the French side, Stephane Michel, Vice President for exploration and production at “Total”, took part in the talks.

During the constructive conversation organized in the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the parties noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of the development of effective and reliable cooperation. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan has a huge potential in the field of energy development, production and processing of hydrocarbons, taking into account the state policy of “open doors” and a favorable investment climate, including for foreign investors.

In this context, the successful holding of the international conference “TAPI – gas pipeline of peace and cooperation” in Dubai in February 2020 and the road show “Oil and gas of Turkmenistan”, which brought together a wide range of potential investors and world experts in the field of energy, were noted.

It was also noted that there is a great potential for enhancing partnership in the field of geological exploration and seismic research, industrial development of fields, including in the Turkmen sector and in the coastal zone of the Caspian sea, the intensification of hydrocarbon production, increasing the capacity of the gas and petrochemical industry, and the development of gas transportation infrastructure.

During the talks, the parties also discussed the development of marine blocks of the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea and the implementation of geological and geophysical data on this sector.

Special attention was paid to the development of the gas chemical industry of Turkmenistan and attracting investment in gas processing projects for their joint implementation in the near future.

At the same time, special emphasis was placed on the introduction of the latest technologies and digital systems in the oil and gas industry, as well as cooperation in the field of training qualified personnel, which is now given priority in our country.
