Repairs have begun at the Russian Drama Theater named after Chingiz Aitmatov as part of the first announced tender. Its director Sergei Bardakov told 24.kg news agency.
«Uyut construction company won the tender for 28,116 million soms. Work started yesterday. It is planned to use this amount to repair the Small Stage with replacement of seats, the foyer of the Small Stage, dressing rooms on three floors, rooms on the spiral staircase and representative halls on the ground floor. The scope of work is large, and we are glad that it has finally begun,» he said.
Under the contract, the company that won the tender must complete the work within 120 days. The overhaul will be carried out in three stages with separate tenders for each of them. The theater will continue to operate as usual. Performances will take place as scheduled.
The Russian Drama Theater named after Chingiz Aitmatov was supposed to be repaired back in 2019. Then the government allocated 198 million soms for the overhaul of buildings of a number of theater and entertainment institutions, of which 97,658,300 soms were allocated for the Russian Drama Theater. Repairs began in it, but later the work was suspended. In March 2022, a tender was announced for a major overhaul (first stage) for 64,623,900 soms. It was later cancelled.
