Russian MFA Clarifies Stance on Extraterritorial Corridor in Armenia

Moscow: Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that the Trilateral Working Group, consisting of representatives from Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, has made progress without discussing the creation of any extraterritorial corridor in Armenia. APA's Moscow correspondent reported Zakharova's remarks during a recent briefing.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Zakharova emphasized that the group has agreed that the involved parties retain sovereignty over corridors within their territories. She highlighted that the initiative to create an extraterritorial corridor was never part of the group's discussions.

Zakharova pointed out that the progress of the Trilateral Working Group has been disrupted due to actions from Western parties, leading to a decision by the Armenian side to halt the group's activities. She expressed optimism that resuming the group's work would restore transport communications and promote socio-economic development in the South Caucasus. Zakharova affirmed Russia's readiness to mediate between Azerbaijan and Armenia to facilitate this process.
