Russian peacekeepers ready to strengthen peace, trust in South Caucasus – Foreign Minister

“Russian peacekeepers are ready to strengthen peace and trust in South Caucasus,” Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov noted in his article “Compliance with the principles of the UN Charter in their entirety and interconnection is the key to international peace and stability,” APA reports.

According to Lavrov, the United States and the European Union continue to sow instability in the South Caucasus. Russia's peacekeeping contingent in Garabagh is ready to contribute to the establishment of peaceful life in the South Caucasus region.

Russian Minister stressed that the U.S. and European Union’s interference in Azerbaijan-Armenia relations causes instability.

"Thinking about its geopolitical ambitions, Brussels, together with Washington, is foisting "mediation services" to Azerbaijan and Armenia, which leads to destabilization in the South Caucasus," Lavrov noted.

"At the time when the leaders of Baku and Yerevan are solving the issue of mutual recognition of the sovereignty of both countries, the time has come to establish a peaceful life and strengthen mutual trust. The Russian peacekeeping contingent is ready to make every contribution to this process," Lavrov added.
