S. Berdimuhamedov offered Russian officials agricultural products, they gave him pipes and double-glazed windows

On September 26, President Serdar Berdymukhammedov met with Russian officials who were in Ashgabat for Independence Day celebrations. The day before, the head of state held similar meetings with foreign businessmen.

The press service of Minnikhanov reported that last year the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $77.5 million. At the meeting, the expansion of the range and increase in the volume of goods was discussed. In particular, in oil production, gas transportation, automobile, aircraft, shipbuilding and the supply of chemical products.

 

At a meeting with the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov , the agreements outlined in the Roadmap for cooperation in the trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian fields for 2020-2025 were discussed.

 

Among the main areas of partnership , TDH names energy, transport and communications, construction, road transport infrastructure and shipbuilding, investment and digitalization, and modelly talks about interaction in the construction of smart cities.

 

In turn, the head of Turkmenistan said that the country is ready to supply agricultural products, textile and petrochemical industries.

 

The press service of the administration of St. Petersburg reported that in 2021, the trade turnover between the city and Turkmenistan increased by 41.6%.

 

“We consider it important to return to the issue of opening the Trading House of St. Petersburg in your country and the Trading House of Turkmenistan in our city. This will help strengthen economic cooperation,” Alexander Beglov emphasized and suggested organizing work with St. Petersburg retail chains to promote Turkmen products.

 

According to the official, the city is interested in the supply of agricultural products. St. Petersburg, in turn, is ready to supply consumer goods to the Turkmen market – medicines, electronics and microelectronics products, food and confectionery products.

 

The governor also said that St. Petersburg enterprises are ready to participate in the development of the North-South road corridor (Russian Federation – Persian Gulf), a trilateral agreement signed by Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran.

 

At a meeting with Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, Alexander Beglov stressed that St. Petersburg is interested in cooperation in the energy sector, education and modernization of infrastructure, as well as in the field of shipbuilding.

 

The head of St. Petersburg said that in the 2021/2022 academic year, 1,756 students from Turkmenistan are studying at St. Petersburg universities.

 

The official said that in September, representatives of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg laid flowers at the monument to the fallen during the Second World War in the village of Marfino, Novgorod Region, where the Red Army soldier Mered Kurbanov , the grandfather of Rashid Meredov, is buried. Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs asked representatives of St. Petersburg authorities to assist in finding a photograph of his grandfather, the press service reported.

 

Cooperation in the field of design and construction of metallurgical and machine-building plants in Turkmenistan was discussed with the governor of the Chelyabinsk region of Russia, Alexei Teksler , the state information agency TDH reports .

 

Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the Turkmen side is ready to supply products of the oil and gas industry, textile industry, carpets and agricultural products to the region.

 

The press service of the governor did not give any details of the talks with the head of Turkmenistan, but said that Alexei Teksler held meetings with the vice-premiers.

 

“We presented our capabilities and saw a very great interest on the part of Turkmenistan in those areas where our enterprises are traditionally strong. These are mechanical engineering, metallurgy, electrical production, issues of cooperation in agriculture. Today, a substantive discussion will be held with the responsible officials from each ministry of Turkmenistan and representatives of our enterprises. Specific agreements must be reached on the supply of certain products,” Texler said.

 

According to him, the metallurgical products of MMK ( Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel  Works ), the industrial group “Konara” were very interested in colleagues from the field of oil refining. The Modern Glass company, which produces double-glazed windows, can be involved in the construction of Ashgabat City.

 

“There is great interest in road equipment – products of the Ural Automobile Plant, ChTZ, DST Ural. We agreed on the supply of pipe products. Successful business mission. This is the main result of our work,” the governor concluded.
