S. Berdimuhamedov ordered to speed up the construction of the capital Akhal, choose a name for it and resettle people

On April 28, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived with an inspection at the construction site of the new capital of the Akhal velayat, where he also held an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The state information agency TDH began the news with a statement that "work here continues at an intensive pace."

Deputy Prime Minister Charymyrat Purchekov , who is in charge of the construction, industrial and energy complex, presented to the head of state the projects of shops, household houses and various high-rise buildings, as well as the Master Plan and schemes of underground passages.

The building plans shown to Berdymukhammedov show that the northern quarter of the city is highlighted in gray. This point is not explained in the reports of TDH and state television, however, if you superimpose the diagram on a satellite image, you can see that the village of Gorjava (formerly Communism) is located in this part, which must be demolished in order to complete the city project.

During the construction of facilities in Ashgabat, the city authorities freely demolish private and multi-storey buildings, however, it is obvious that there were difficulties with the demolition of this village.

The President ordered to ensure timely and high-quality construction of facilities, as well as to use high-quality materials.

Then Serdar Berdimuhamedov held an off-site meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the construction of a new city.

After another report by Purchekov, the head of state expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of the building materials used and the failure to meet the deadlines for ongoing construction work. He demanded to speed up the construction and put the facilities into operation according to the established schedule and at the same time create conditions for the work and rest of the builders .

Then each Deputy Prime Minister reported on the construction of facilities under their jurisdiction: kindergartens and schools, shops and shopping centers, banks and financial institutions, etc.

After the reports, Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that the city is of "great political, economic and social importance" for Turkmenistan.

“Currently, there are few states in the world that build and put into operation an entire city. Thus, this testifies to the growing economic potential of the country and the good training of our specialists,” the head of state said and again ordered to complete “in the shortest possible time the construction of individual facilities.”

Since the capital of Akhal will become a “city with a digital platform,” the President instructed the Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications Mammetkhan Chakiev and Deputy Prime Minister for Science and Education, Health and Sports Sapardurdy Toylyev to open a center for training specialists in the field of digitalization here.

Berdimuhamedov said that a very important, second stage of the construction of the city was beginning, which provided for its improvement and resettlement of residents (earlier it was reported that 70,000 people would live there). To address this issue, a State Committee for the construction of the administrative center of the Akhal velayat will be created, which will be headed by Deryageldi Orazov (Head of the Directorate for Construction Objects of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture).

The question of the name of the future city, Berdimuhamedov Jr., proposed to bring it up for a nationwide discussion . The President also announced the creation of the city’s hyakimlik, headed by Shamuhammet Durdylyev (head of the Ashgabat City Construction Enterprises Directorate and ex-hyakim of Ashgabat).

Ex-president Gurbanguly Berdymuhmedov also constantly spoke about the need to speed up the construction of the new capital Akhal. The last time he inspected the construction site on January 18, and at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on January 7, he announced the imminent completion of the construction of the city, which will open this year.

The president announced his intention to build a new city in October 2018. The first stage of construction was planned to be implemented in 2019-2021, and the second - in 2020-2022.
