On August 3, Avaza hosted the awarding of athletes who won prizes at international sports competitions: riders of the Silk Way 2022 rally-raid between the cities of Astrakhan-Moscow, as well as young athletes who competed at the Asian Weightlifting Championship among teenagers and youths in Tashkent , according to the state news agency TDH .
According to the Turkmenportal information website, young weightlifters from Turkmenistan won 20 medals at the Championship in Tashkent. As for the racers, Turkmen couples took all three prizes at the Silk Way Rally 2022 in the T2 over 1000 km discipline .
However, the editor-in-chief of the Gundogar publication, Bairam Shikhmuradov , drew attention to the fact that out of five off-road vehicles on the Silk Way Rally, four were from Turkmenistan and only one from Russia. Turkmen crews used Nissan Patrol SUVs, Russian crews used Lada Niva.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov , who opened a cottage complex here in Avaza two days ago, did not take part in the event, but the state media published his appeal to the athletes.
Berdimuhamedov recalled the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games held in Turkmenistan, the Amul-Khazar International Rally in 2018, as well as the World Weightlifting Championship and stated that he intends to turn the country "into the center of international competitions , championships and Olympic Games.
In order to educate “true fans of the sports movement” and “a generation of modern masters of sports”, the head of state intends to build new specialized infrastructure facilities.
On behalf of the head of state, the gifts were presented to the athletes by Deputy Prime Minister for Science, Education, Health and Sports Nurmukhammed Amannepesov .
The athletes who received gold medals were presented with valuable gifts (judging by the frames of the TV report - domestic televisions ) and vouchers to Avaza.
In addition, the riders were given special equipment from the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship . The national motorsport team of Turkmenistan was awarded a Nissan Pathfinder car. This is the same car that, as TDH reported at the time , Berdymukhammedov’s father and son “re-equipped with their own hands and re-assembled a high-speed sports utility vehicle based on their drawings.”
The riders immediately put on new uniforms, got into an SUV and, according to TDH, “went along the route of the Amul-Khazar International Rally, held in 2018 at the initiative of the Hero-Arkadag.”
Later, during a separate event, awards were also given to athletes who took second and third places. They were given televisions.
