On April 8, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of the government's work for three months, the state information agency TDH reports .
As usual, Deputy Prime Minister Shahym Abdrakhmanov , who is in charge of the oil and gas industry, presented a positive report on the work of the industry and the overfulfillment of a number of plans.
In response, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the state is providing the necessary support to the oil and gas complex, but despite this, "no noticeable progress has been observed."
In this regard, the head of state ordered:
• strengthen control over the financial condition of the industry;
• to improve the position of industries operating with loans in the national currency , including their partial use in the improvement of oil and gas areas and drilling of wells;
• more actively attract foreign investments and credits on favorable terms;
• accelerate the construction of TAPI.
Then the President expressed dissatisfaction with the activities of the Deputy Prime Minister and the leaders of the complex he supervises and instructed to take measures to eliminate the existing shortcomings.
He also severely reprimanded Deputy Prime Minister Abdrakhmanov for shortcomings in the industry in the first quarter of this year. Appointed as Deputy Prime Minister for Fuel and Energy in February 2021, Shahym Abdrakhmanov received his first reprimand in November under President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov .
In addition, Berdimuhamedov Jr. appointed Ashirguly Begliev as his adviser on oil and gas issues . From January 2015 to January 2017, Begliev was the head of the Turkmengas State Concern.
Since December 2017, Yagshigeldi Kakaev has been an adviser on oil and gas issues to Berdimuhamedov Sr. He died of pneumonia in July 2020.
