S7 airlines extend the suspension of regular flight operations to Turkmenistan until April 2021

The news outlet Turkmen News with reference to S7 website says that the Russian Airlines “Siberia” (S7) reported the suspension of its flight service to Turkmenistan until April 2021.

According to the website of the air carrier, “the authorities of Turkmenistan have decided to suspend the flights to Ashgabat operated by international air carriers. For this reason S7 Airlines cancelled all Moscow-Ashgabat and Ashgabat Moscow flights with departure dates until 2 April, 2021”.

In the meantime, the Russian air carrier obtained a permit for regular flight operations to 24 countries, including Turkmenistan, pursuant to the order published by the Federal Air Transport Agency Rosaviation as of 5 October, 2020. This means that S7 might resume air service with Turkmenistan as soon as Turkmenistan lifts all restrictions.

Because of the spread of coronavirus COVID-19, “Turkmenistan Airlines” has temporarily suspended international air service since July 2020. The suspension has been extended a few times. According to the latest news, the air travel ban is valid until late October. However, it is likely to be further extended.
