Sarakhs border crossing to open on Turkmenistan-Iran border from June 1

From June 1, the Sarakhs (Sarakhs) border terminal located on the border of Turkmenistan with Iran (Khorasan-Rezavi province) will start operating, the Türkmenawtoulaglary agency (Turkmenavtotransport) reports .

“In order to effectively use the transit potential of Turkmenistan, as well as increase the volume of passenger traffic and international cargo transportation, from June 1, foreign cars together with drivers are allowed to cross the border along the Serakhs-Farap-Serakhs route, provided that all necessary requirements are met,” the information message says.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, the Serax border crossing has been largely inactive . Periodically, the media in both countries reported on the resumption of work, but then the checkpoint was closed again.
