On May 31, on the eve of the International Children's Day, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited Ashgabat's Palace of orphans ("Döwletliler kösgi"), the state information agency TDH reports .
The head of state toured the building, talked to the children about their studies and asked where they would like to spend their summer holidays.
For an unclear reason, the Palace is located on the southwestern outskirts of Ashgabat, and not in the city. The complex of buildings is surrounded by wastelands without any infrastructure.
The children said that they learn foreign languages and read books, read poems about their homeland to the president and told what they want to become in the future.
Then the head of state presented gifts to the children. TDH notes that they will also receive holiday gifts from Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov . In total, 500,000 manats were allocated from the Charitable Foundation named after the ex-president for gifts to orphans. How many orphans live in Ashgabat and other regions of the country is not specified.
After examining the classrooms, the president noted that the buildings of the institution were outdated and needed to be repaired, and said that in the near future the premises would be renovated and equipped with advanced equipment.
TDH recalls that last year the Charitable Foundation allocated new ambulances equipped with modern specialized equipment to pediatric departments of hospitals in etraps and cities of velayats. However, in reality, these turned out to be UAZ-452 cars, which have been produced since the 60s of the last century, popularly known as “loaves”.
In addition, in May, the Fund financed heart surgery for children from low-income families, as well as on the knee joints of both legs, as well as an examination of 23 children. “Large funds in the national currency were allocated for these purposes,” the TDH emphasizes.
Another $200,000 was spent on the purchase of consumables for cardiological operations using an open-heart heart-lung machine, as well as for X-ray endovascular operations using an occluder, a special device that allows closing a defect in the atrial septum, for children with congenital defects of the cardiovascular system.
Recall that in early May, the parents of a three-year-old girl published on the websites of independent information publications an appeal to the authorities of Turkmenistan with a request to let them out of the country for an operation on the child's heart. It was reported that Turkmen doctors offered to open the girl's chest, while foreign clinics offer a modern sparing technique, launching a special device through the artery, with which you can perform a small operation on the heart. Obviously, in this way the authorities show that Turkmen doctors can perform similar operations.
On May 18, doctors at the Center for Maternal and Child Health, which Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited, assured the ex-president of his ability to perform complex heart surgeries.
