Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to “restore international transportation”

At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on June 11, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that with the improvement of the situation in the world associated with the coronovirus , many countries are opening spaces for international transportation, the state information agency TDH reports .

In this regard, he instructed the Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications Mammetkhan Chakiev "to carry out relevant work to restore international traffic in the near future and report on their results."

The official also reported on the permission to prepare a draft resolution on the approval of the List of security levels in the transport sector and the procedure for declaring security levels. TDH does not provide details of these lists. In response, Berdimuhamedov Jr. instructed to continue work in this direction.

TDH does not decipher the specific definition of "international traffic" and does not specify whether it is about the resumption of passenger (or cargo) air traffic with all or part of the countries, or about the opening of land borders.

Earlier it was reported that from June 1, the transit of goods through the territory of Turkmenistan by foreign carriers through the checkpoints "Serakhs (Iran) - Serakhs (Turkmenistan)" - "Farap (Turkmenistan) - Alat (Uzbekistan)" - "Serakhs (Turkmenistan) - Serakhs ( Iran)".

However, to do this, they must comply with a number of requirements. Trucks must move through Turkmenistan in a convoy, which will be formed from 8:00 am at a distance of 1 km from the borders of Uzbekistan and Iran. The convoy will be accompanied by traffic police. Drivers are prohibited from stopping and getting out of the cabs of vehicles while driving.
