On January 24, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov , who arrived in Tashkent to participate in the Council of Foreign Ministers of the ECO (Economic Cooperation Organization).
The parties discussed cooperation in the field of economy, trade, industrial cooperation, energy, transport and logistics, the press service of the head of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports .
A number of joint events will take place in the first quarter of this year - regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Joint Commission on Water Management Issues, inter-MFA political consultations and cultural events, the report says.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan does not report on the meeting.
On the same day, the head of Uzbekistan received ECO Secretary General Khusrav Noziri , at a meeting with whom it was reported that Uzbekistan's trade with the countries of the Organization had grown by 70%, and the number of joint ventures and projects had increased fivefold.
It is also reported that preparations are underway for the next ECO summit, which will be held in November in Tashkent.
