Baku: SOCAR's Kulevi terminal, located on the Black Sea coast, is set to collaborate with Georgia's first oil refinery. This announcement was made by Ilgar Alizade, the General Director of the terminal, during the Caspian and Central Asia Oil Trading and Logistics Forum organized by GLENMAR Group, as reported by APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the construction of Georgia's inaugural oil refinery commenced last year, just three kilometers from the Kulevi terminal. The refinery's initial phase will boast an annual capacity of 1.1 million tons, with a planned increase to 3.5 million tons per year by 2026-2027.
Alizade stated that the Kulevi terminal will manage all inbound cargo to the refinery and outbound cargo for export. The terminal's expansion projects include the construction of four 20,000-cubic-meter tanks, which will increase the total tank capacity to 487,000 cubic meters.
He noted that all significant works at the Kulevi terminal are executed by SOCAR Midstream. Future plans for the terminal also involve the construction of a breakwater and additional berths by the year 2027.
