At the end of last week Radio Azatlyk reported that Turkmenistan's Migration Office started accepting documents to issue international travel passports for dual nationals, who had been granted citizenship of the Russian Federation after June 2003.
Correspondents of Chronicles of Turkmenistan contacted the local offices of Turkmenistan's Migration Service in Ashgabat and Dashoguz, but, according to them, no changes have been recorded so far. The employees of the agency report that they have not received new orders pertaining to the changes in the document acceptance procedure.
The editorinchief of Azatlyk Farrukh Yusupov, in his turn, confirmed to Chronicles of Turkmenistan, that the information on the acceptance of documents for RussianTurkmen dual nationals was received from several sources.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta, with reference to its own sources in Ashgabat and Moscow, also reported about the launch of the legalization process for dual nationals in Turkmenistan.
