Baku: In January-March 2025, Azerbaijan's total imports saw a significant increase of 52.6% compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of $5.66 billion.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, citing the State Customs Committee, this surge in imports marks a substantial shift in trade dynamics for the country.
The data reveals a notable distribution of imports across different sectors. The state sector was responsible for 39% of the total imports, amounting to $2.21 billion. The private sector accounted for 52% of the imports, totaling $2.36 billion, while individuals contributed 9% with imports valued at $498.8 million.
When compared to the first quarter of 2024, the state sector witnessed a remarkable fivefold increase in its imports. In contrast, the private sector experienced a modest rise of 4.6%, and individual imports grew by 13.1%.
It is also reported that during the first quarter of 2025, state sector exports reached $2.98 billion, private sector exports stood at $3.39 billion, and individual exports were recorded at $21.7 million.
