State Security Council meeting and military training Turgen-2017

President of Turkmenistan, Supreme-Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, Army General Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov called an after-midnight alert for some troops to assess their military proficiency, and convened an out-of-office State Security Council meeting to sum up the outcomes of the running year's seven-month activities of military and law-enforcement agencies.

Senior military and law enforcement officials presented their seven-month reports to the head of state. As informed, to systematically upgrade the Armed Forces' military-technical facilities, the country's military bodies are tooled with state-of-the-art equipment. This contributes to handling the major tasks identified in the Military Doctrine of independent neutral Turkmenistan with its purely defensive character.

In the after-report comments, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov stressed the need to ensure constant improvements in military personnel training, make efforts to promote patriotic education and develop professional skills of officers and staff.

The Supreme-Commander-in-Chief of Turkmenistan named effective protection of the State Border as the main objective of the State Border Service of Turkmenistan, having instructed the Service's Commander to further enhance the Frontier Forces' activities and ensure better life and service conditions for frontier guards.

President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov drew attention to the importance of applying new methods in the Interior Ministry's work. The head of state severely reprimanded Interior Minister I. Mulikov for unsatisfactory execution of his office duties and lax control over the agencies he is in charge of.

Speaking of grave responsibility placed on the judicial officials, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov recognized the necessity to thoroughly investigate every single case, and assigned to organize advanced vocational training for judges.

The Supreme-Commander-in-Chief of the country emphasized that highly-qualified specialists, who faithfully perform their official duties, should work for prosecution agencies. Having stressed the need to carry out checks by prosecution authorities in different sectors of the national economy, the head of state gave the issue-related commissions to the prosecutor general.

The head of state focused on the priority areas of activities done by the Ministry of National Security, having given specific instructions on ensuring a high level of preparations for the upcoming 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

Speaking to senior officials of the State Customs Service, the President of Turkmenistan called for more careful and thorough examination of goods and their full compliance to quality standards.

Touching upon the State Migration Service's top-priority tasks, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov assigned to take steps to ensure smooth immigration control procedures (in accordance with international standards) for foreign citizens during the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

Having identified economic crime control, prevention and investigation as the key aims and objectives of the State Service of Turkmenistan for Combating Economic Crimes, the head of Turkmenistan commissioned to continue professional training of specialists.

Stressing the importance of further all-round development of the country's legislative system, the head of state underlined the need to analyze best practices in international law and make practical use of them. The President of Turkmenistan named the provision of high-quality legal services to the population as one of today's important tasks.

Summing up the Security Council meeting, Supreme-Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, Army General Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov specified top-priority short-term objectives, and demanded that top officials of all the agencies take a responsible approach to their official duties. Special accent was placed on the importance of ensuring a high level of security during the 2017 Asian Games.

Then, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme-Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, Army General Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov arrived at a frontier post located in the capital's southern part to attend a review of modern military equipment. The head of state became acquainted with state-of-the-art vehicles and equipment at the dispose of the Armed Forces.

Then, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme-Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, Army General Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov proceeded to a specially designated area to give a start to military training exercises, Turgen-2017.

To catch and disarm an armed gang who had violated the state border, at a prearranged signal, military personnel and special forces groups of military and law enforcement agencies were placed on full alert. A DA-42 airplane and two Awgusta-109 helicopters of the State Border Service of Turkmenistan were used to enable search operations and collection of necessary information.

Consistent with the training mission, D-30 artillery shells were employed to eliminate the enemies.

With unmanned aerial vehicle support, armored vehicles and military equipment were operated to identify the exact location of the illegal armed group consisting of 10-15 people. Special units were working under the cover of snipers.

In accordance with the military training program, members of the armed forces took concerted action and once again demonstrated their combat skills in standing against criminals.

Service members had a specialized MI-8 helicopter (intended for fire-fighting operations) of the Central Office of Civil Defense and Rescue Operations Department of the Defense Ministry of Turkmenistan at their disposal to practice fire-fighting techniques and extinguish the fire.

Then, properly trained Turkmen Alabai dogs demonstrated their skills while completing obstacle courses. The dogs are raised and trained at a special canine center. They play a significant role in searching for illegal border crossers.

After the military training exercises, the head of state emphasized that the military reforms aimed to preserve and promote peace on Turkmen land, ensure the nation's well-being and happy life, should be implemented successfully.
