Steps for Kazakh investment to engage in Kyrgyz agriculture discussed

BISHKEK: Specific steps for Kazakh investors to engage in projects aimed at developing Kyrgyzstan's agricultural sector were discussed, Trend reports. The topic was addressed during a meeting between Kyrgyzstan's Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of the Ministers and Minister of Agriculture, Bakyt Torobayev, and Kazakhstan's Minister of Agriculture, Aidarbek Saparov. Torobayev emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership between the two countries in the agricultural sector, highlighting significant potential for collaboration in areas such as agricultural product processing, developing logistics chains, and implementing modern technologies. In response, Saparov confirmed Kazakhstan's readiness to further develop cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in agriculture, stressing the importance of experience sharing and investing in joint projects. According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, trade turnover between the countries amounted to $637.207 million from January through July 2024, which is 18.6 percent lower than in the same months of 2023 ($782.652 million).
