DUSHANBE: Tajikistan transported 759.4 million passengers from January through September 2024. The data obtained by Trend from the country's Ministry of Transport shows that passenger traffic increased by 12 percent year-on-year. Passenger turnover amounted to 10.1 billion passenger kilometers, which is 19 percent more compared to the period from January through September last year. Meanwhile, it is noted that 99.8 percent of passengers in Tajikistan were carried by road transport. During the mentioned period, 758.3 million passengers were transported by this type of transport, which is 11.9 percent more than in the same period last year. The ministry also noted that 90.2 percent of all passenger transportation (684.9 million) was carried out through the enterprises of the system of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan. To note, a total of 666,074 units of vehicles were registered in Tajikistan as of January 1, 2024, including 52,362 cargo vehicles, 16,554 passenger vehicles, 587,074 passenger cars, 6 ,013 special vehicles, and 4,071 motorcycles. This is an increase of 64,938 units, or 10.8 percent, over the same period last year. Of the total, 48,989 (7.5 percent) vehicles are operating in the country's economic sectors.
