Baku: The technical session of the 29th General Assembly of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA) has commenced in Baku, as reported by the State Tax Service to APA-Economics.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the session is themed 'Adaptive and Agile Tax Administration in a Rapidly Changing Environment' and includes participation from heads of tax administrations from over 40 IOTA member countries, representatives from international organizations, experts, and other attendees.
In his opening remarks, Orkhan Nazarly, Head of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, welcomed the participants and highlighted the organization's role in fostering best practices and the adoption of digital technologies. He emphasized the need for more agile management due to challenges such as technological advancements, changes in global trade, and shifts in taxpayer behavior. The session in Baku is focused on addressing these issues.
The session includes presentations and discussions on various topics, including innovations in tax administration, digital transformation, the role of artificial intelligence in tax administration, and improving taxpayer relations. Throughout the two-day session, attendees will share experiences and discuss initiatives to enhance international cooperation.
An exhibition is also part of the session, showcasing member states' achievements in innovative technologies. Azerbaijan is participating with displays that highlight the State Tax Service's projects in media and communication, tax risk management, and human resources management.
