The agenda of the Turkmen-British cooperation is discussed over a telephone conversation

Deputy Prime-Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov had a telephone conversation with UK Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for European Neighbourhood and the Americas), Ms. Wendy Morton.

A wide range of issues of interstate cooperation were discussed during the conversation. The importance of regular consultations between the foreign affairs agencies of the two countries was emphasized.

While exchanging views on the aspects of expanding trade and economic partnership, the parties noted the activities of the Turkmen-British Trade and Industry Council (TUKTIC). In frames of seven TUKTIC meetings, the priority areas of mutual interests and vectors of business cooperation were identified.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the UK Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for European Neighbourhood and the Americas) expressed commitment to the further development of constructive cooperation in frames of international organizations, in particular the UN.

The prospects for dialogue in the field of ecology and environmental protection were also discussed. In this context, the parties underlined the importance of cooperation within the framework of the existing global mechanisms to combat climate change, UN Conferences on climate change, including the upcoming COP-26.

One of the topics of the telephone conversation was the international efforts to counter the COVID-19 pandemic. In this aspect, the emphasis is placed on the importance of consolidated actions, including the tools of scientific diplomacy.
