Today, on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow, Mejlis Speaker G. Mammedova accepted the credentials of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Guatemala, Hairo Dawid Estrada Barrios.
The leader of the National Parliament congratulated the ambassador on behalf of the Turkmen leader on his appointment to a responsible position and wished him success in strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries and their peoples.
Expressing his happiness for good wishes, the plenipotentiary representative of the friendly country expressed the heartfelt greetings of the President of the Republic of Guatemala Alejandro Giammattei to the President of the Republic of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and his wishes for happiness and new successes in the path of great reforms to the Turkmen people.
During the meeting, the diplomat was introduced to the priorities of the peace-loving foreign policy of Turkmenistan. Broad international cooperation based on the principles of trust, equality and mutual advantage is the priority direction of that policy. As mentioned, independent and neutral Turkmenistan, which has maintained a high pace of socio-economic development in recent years, attaches great importance to the development of effective relations with all countries of the world, including the countries of Central America.
The Ambassador of Guatemala was introduced to the huge social reforms taking place in the country, joint national and international projects implemented in various fields with foreign partners.
During the discussion of opportunities to establish cooperation in various future fields, it was confirmed that Turkmenistan and Guatemala are committed to effective cooperation in bilateral and multilateral ways, including major international organizations and authoritative bodies. Cooperation in these areas will contribute to the economic development of the two countries and the strengthening of mutual understanding between their peoples.
It was also noted that it is important to establish parliamentary relations. This will allow to intensify intergovernmental cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Hairo Dawid Estrada Barrios expressed his gratitude for the cordial reception and hospitality shown in the Turkmen land and assured that as ambassador he will spare no efforts to develop bilateral cooperation in accordance with common interests.
