On May 4 , President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the European Union 's Special Representative for Central Asia Teri Hakala , the state information agency TDH reports .
The parties noted the positive and multifaceted cooperation, which intensified with the opening of the official EU representation in Turkmenistan in 2019.
Among the most successful projects implemented in Turkmenistan, TDH listed projects in the field of legislation, education, development of information and communication technologies, agriculture and water management, as well as climate change.
On the same day, the diplomat discussed inter-parliamentary cooperation with Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov .
“We highly appreciate the achieved level of bilateral cooperation,” the ex-president noted, adding that for many years the European Union has been providing technical assistance to Turkmenistan within the framework of specialized projects and programs.
Chairman of the Mejlis Gulshat Mammedova also met with Teri Khakala . However, TDH does not provide details of this meeting .
In his Twitter account, Teri Hakala does not report the meeting.
The Finnish diplomat took up her new position on July 1, her mandate will last until February 28, 2023.
In December, the Special Representative traveled to Turkmenistan for the first time to attend a conference on neutrality and to discuss with the Turkmen government "opportunities to advance regional and bilateral dialogue in key areas."
