A ceremony honoring athletes who won prizes in the Silk Way 2022 rally-raid held in Russia and the Asian Weightlifting Championship among juniors and youth held in Uzbekistan was held in the Avaza national tourist zone.
Members of the government, parliament, public organizations and the media took part in the solemn event, held at the Avaza sports complex. Turkmen athletes adequately represented Turkmenistan at the Asian Youth Weightlifting Championship, held in Tashkent from 15 to 25 July and brought together over 260 athletes from 21 countries.
A student of the 10th grade of Ashgabat secondary school No. 104, Medine Amanova, performing in the weight category up to 64 kilograms among teenage girls (juniors), successfully overtook her competitors and won three gold medals. Another talented athlete from the 11th grade of Ashgabat secondary school No. 20 Saparly Mukhiev, competing among juniors in the weight category up to 89 kilograms, won three medals of the highest standard.
Athletes from Turkmenistan also successfully performed in the Silk Way 2022 international rally raid, which took place on July 6–16 across the territory of the Russian Federation. In these competitions, the first place in the T2 category (serial SUVs) was awarded to representatives of the Turkmenavtotransport agency - pilot Merdan Toylyev and navigator Shohrat Toylyev.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nurmuhammet Amannepesov, on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, presented the athletes with valuable gifts, vacation packages in the Avaza national tourist zone and sports equipment.
The celebrations ended with a festive concert and demonstration performances of athletes in various sports.
