At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on December 17, the General Director of the Transport and Communications Agency Mammetkhan Chakyev presented a draft Resolution "On issues of the Interdepartmental Commission for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan."
According to the state information agency TDH , in order to implement the tasks for the development of the digital economy, it is necessary to make additions and changes to the previously existing Regulation on the Interdepartmental Commission, to determine its new composition and to approve the candidacy of a new chairman.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that digitalization is a priority for solving the problems of the Turkmen economy.
According to the head of state, one of the steps towards the transition to the digital economy was the formation of the Interdepartmental Commission, the main activity of which is to facilitate the practical implementation and promotion of digital technologies at all levels of state and public life .
The Head of State noted the importance of the work carried out by the Türkmenaragatnasyk Agency to promote digitalization and ensure the functioning of smart grids, including the development of legislative support for the regulation and expansion of the national network space, the range of Internet services.
As a result, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the submitted draft resolution.
In December 2020, the second conference of the working group of the Interdepartmental Commission on the Development of the Digital Economy was held. Then "Türkmenaragatnasyk" ("Turkmensvyaz") presented a draft of the Unified Identification and Authentication System (ESIA), which will provide citizens with access to electronic state services .
As the correspondents of the Chronicle of Turkmenistan told in February 2021, none of the residents of the country they interviewed used this system, the overwhelming majority did not suspect its existence.
