The current president of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the newly elected head of state, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, held a series of telephone conversations with a number of heads of state and government. During these negotiations, issues of developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and these countries were discussed in connection with the election of a new head of the Turkmen state at the extraordinary presidential elections held on March 12.
Such talks were held with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of Pakistan Arif Alvi, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Armenian Minister Nikol Pashinyan
