THE DELEGATION OF TURKMENISTAN TO THE OSCE MADE A STATEMENT AT THE OSCE-UNHCR SEMINAR ON STATELESSNESS

On October 23, 2019, the delegation of Turkmenistan to the OSCE made a statement at the Practical Seminar on Sharing Good Practices on Statelessness among OSCE participating States. The event was organized by OSCE and UNHCR.

In the statement, it was noted that on September 20, 2019, the President of Turkmenistan signed the Decree on the granting Turkmen citizenship to 863 people. On September 26, 2019, the solemn ceremony of giving the passports to the people who were granted Turkmen citizenship was held in the State Migration Service. Representatives of 14 nationalities received passports, more than half of the people who were granted citizenship � women. The event was attended by the representatives of the ministries and departments of the country, international organizations, honorary elders, and the national and foreign mass media.

Aiming to unfold the peacekeeping and constructive potential of the Turkmen state for the benefit of overall prosperity and based on the high humane and moral principles of our ancestors, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov implements the policy of wide international cooperation while paying special attention to the issues related to the well-being of people and social development.

Actively collaborating with the international humanitarian organizations, our state makes a valuable contribution to the efforts of international community by implementing the purposeful work and effective measures on assisting the migrants, refugees and stateless persons including the protection of their rights.
