The delegation of Turkmenistan to the OSCE made a statement on Turkmen security priorities

During the next meeting of the OSCE Security Committee, the delegation of Turkmenistan made a statement on the topic Priorities of Turkmenistan in the field of security.

The statement noted that Turkmenistan is strictly guided by the principles of neutrality, non-intervention, adherence to peaceful, political means of resolving conflicts and contradictions. Turkmenistan believes that the priorities in the activities of the international community should be further joint efforts of states in the field of disarmament, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, in the fight against terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.

In this regard, the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, launched at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, to declare 2019 the Year of Peace and Trust was noted.

The meeting participants were also informed about the cooperation of Turkmenistan with relevant UN agencies, the European Union, the OSCE mission in Ashgabat, as well as the forthcoming conference Countering the Financing of Terrorism and Organized Crime in Turkmenistan on April 17-18, 2019, which will be organized by the Turkmen government OSCE.
