The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly

The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Chairman of the Mejlis Milli Gengesh Gulshat Mammedova took part in the 13th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in the Turkish city of Antalya. Delegations from 27 countries of the world took part in the session on the topic “Promoting multilateralism in a changing international dynamic”.

In her speech, the speaker of the lower house of the Turkmen parliament noted that Ashgabat attaches particular importance to the development of international cooperation in energy, transport, ecology, and cultural and humanitarian diplomacy. She also expressed the readiness of the Parliament of Turkmenistan for bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the field of ensuring peace and security through parliamentary diplomacy.

In this regard, the initiatives of the chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to improve the work of parliamentary friendship groups, encourage cooperation between young parliamentarians, increase the activity of women deputies and strengthen parliamentary support for the implementation of sustainable development goals were noted. At the end of the APA meeting, a final declaration was adopted.

On the sidelines of the plenary session, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan met with the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Shentop. During the meeting, issues of expanding the Turkmen-Turkish inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed.
